DescriptionTecMinho (TECM) is one of the most ancient and most reputed knowledge transfer academic structures in Portugal. Created in 1990, by an initiative from the University of Minho, TecMinho has been supporting researchers in effectively transferring their research results on to the market, offering at the same time, as centralized access point to the knowledge of the University of Minho, a set of solutions to enterprises related with innovation, R&D, and intellectual property. Throughout its 24 years of history, TecMinho has promoted more than 300 technologies of the University of Minho in national and international markets, has established around 400 R&D and licensing contracts with industry, has filed 160 patents, and has created 120 knowledge-based companies. In its knowledge transfer activity spectrum, TecMinho has involved more than 800 academic researchers, and around 5700 companies from different points in the globe. In terms of international collaborations, it has successfully promoted and participated in severalNational and European projects linked with innovation, R&D, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and IPR, under different EC Framework Programmes for Science and Technology, INTERREG, CRAFT, COST, etc. TecMinho’s quality standards have been recognized by Proton in 2006 with an award as Best Business Plan for an established Knowledge Transfer Office. More recently, TecMinho was the first academic knowledge transfer office in Portugal to see its quality system being certified in both ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and NP 4457 (Research, Development and Innovation Management) norms. TecMinho has a strong track record in R&D and innovation management issues, having supported several companies in a wide set of industries to effectively develop, demonstrate, transfer and commercialize innovative technologies at National and International levels. Its core competences include relevant topics as: Industry Liaison; Technology Assessment; Technology Marketing; IPR; Innovation Management; Business Development; Licensing and Technology Transfer; Start-Up Creation; Business Modelling; Project Management; Cluster Development Strategies; and Procurement Strategies.
